Cell, gene therapy and regenerative medicine are promising treatment approaches. We supported Scinus Cell Expansion in prototyping and scaling up the production of their newly developed closed bioreactor for (stem)cell cultivation. This resulted in reduced overall costs, optimized assembly and shorter delivery times, all while enhancing device quality along the way.

Most importantly, our support enabled Scinus to focus on its core competence: enabling customers to cultivate cells for advanced therapy medicine products (ATMP). With our involvement, Scinus can rely on seamless equipment production planning, component procurement, warehousing, assembly, and testing.

Having a functioning prototype is one thing, but achieving high-quality serial production with consistent and predictable output is another. For this a deep understanding of the supply chain, assembly and testing processes, and the design process is needed. For Scinus’ Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) suitable equipment, we worked closely with the design teams to ensure long-term component availability, reduce reliance on critical components, and optimize the design for assembly and testing. This not only lowered overall product costs but also improved serviceability while reducing system downtime.

We established the entire supply chain for Scinus’ bioreactor, ensuring predictable and on-time delivery to end customers. For us, supply chain development goes beyond cost optimization or selecting and contracting the right suppliers. These are a given. By broadening our knowledge through involvement with critical suppliers, we were able to implement improvements that expand beyond our own capabilities. This resulted in a cell culture device of exceptional quality, optimized for series production at a lower costs.

In addition to design improvements and supply chain optimization, we optimized the production of the device. We focus on modular assembly and testing, ensuring high product quality for the equipment used in a GMP environment from the start. For Scinus, we established a production process that meets both their product launch volume as well as their expected end volume throughout the entire ramp-up phase. Flexibility in meeting customer demands is at our core.

life cycle support.

To ensure an optimal customer experience, we have enabled Scinus to provide after-market support for devices manufactured by Demcon industrial systems. This includes the ordering and delivery of spare-parts for Scinus’ service personnel, as well as on-site support for end customers when needed.
